1949 Parish Cup Final Defeat
In terms of history this seemed to be a mismatch – with Copley yet to break their Parish Cup duck and Yorkshire League outfit King Cross one of the superpowers of the competition. The legendary Jim Bain skippered King Cross to their eighth triumph in this final, played at their own home ground: The Ramsdens. King Cross had won the trophy in 1940 and 1945 and would go on to win it in 1951 also, with Bain as captain once more.
