1896 Ovenden League Winners

Illingworth’s first venture into league cricket proved a big success, winning the Ovenden and District League title. Although only half their fixtures were league matches, gate receipts increased to £4/19/6d from 16/11d in the previous season.   Mountain United and Lee Mount Baptists folded before the 1897 season. The league itself was dissolved after the 1897 campaign in which Illingworth were again winners.
