Greatest Moment

The ‘old’ club winning the Halifax Parish League in the first year of competition, 1914.

Local Hero

Keith Barker – veteran player and now hardworking club stalwart.

Bizarre Fact

The ‘old’ Norwood Green CC folded in 1940. The ‘new’ club emerged in 1974 following the merger of Wyke Westfield CC and Lower Wyke Moravians CC (who initially became Wyke CC, then Norwood Green CC).

The Village

The village of Norwood Green is home to a famous olde worlde pub called the White Beare (sic). Reputedly, one of the beams that holds the roof up came originally from one of Nelson's ships, maybe even from Victory.

What else is the village famous for? Pickle Bridge railway station opened at Norwood Green on 17 August 1850. In 1852, it was renamed Wyke Station and in 1896, it was moved and renamed Wyke & Norwood Green Station. The station closed in September 1953.
