1958 Anniversary Dinner
This event marked the 25th anniversary of the re-formed Warley CC. The Old Cock Hotel was originally built as a town house in the 1580s by William Saville of Copley after he married Isabel Lacey in 1575. Much altered over the years, but the oak room survives on the first floor, and it boasts a fine Elizabethan carved and inlaid oak fireplace (dated 1581). The room is lit by a large window with stained glass panels - and it was in this room that the Halifax Building Society was formed. It has been an inn since 1688.
