THE HERITAGE AND HISTORY OF PENNINE CRICKET

<< back

On Saturday 19 March, the Department of History at the University of Huddersfield hosted a unique day conference entitled, The Heritage and History of Pennine Cricket. The event was held under the aegis of the Calderdale and Kirklees Cricket Heritage Project sponsored by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the University of Huddersfield.

The six speakers came from Huddersfield, Pateley Bridge, Todmorden, Leicester, Liverpool and Keighley, and the 50+ attendees came from all over the north of England - from places such as Blackpool, Stockport, Sale, Hebden Bridge, Buxton, Sheffield, Leeds and Bradford.

It is hoped that the Pennine Cricket Conference will become an annual event - another significant legacy of the Heritage Project. For more information contact Dr Peter Davies via p.j.davies@hud.ac.uk.

Thank you to everyone who helped organise the event and to all those who attended, contributed to discussion, and helped to form such a knowledgeable audience.
